October 2022

OCTOBER was mainly hot but we did get the promised rains early in the month followed by yet more calimas and heat.

Jose underwent a routine operation with means he is off work for approximately 2 months, you may still see him walking around the complex but he is not working. We wish him well and hopefully he will be back soon after a full recovery.

Garage door we are having problems again with the garage door and it is very unhelpful having people and workmen on the site blocking the sensor on the door to keep it open,we ask if you have workmen in your apartment tell them not to block the main door and do not prop open the two fire doors leading to the garage,  this is a security risk and a fire risk if we had an incident  in the garage whilst the doors were proper open the authorities would immediately come to the community,

We are busy now preparing the complex for Christmas and hope to see a lot of owners here for the Xmas period after a long time due to the covid restrictions.

That is all for now and I will make sure I get the blog done earlier next month,

Take care  Paul

SEPTEMBER 2022

Last Updated on Friday, 14 October 2022 10:42 Written by Paul Tassell Friday, 14 October 2022 10:42

September was very hot but we had storms  towards the end of the month with torrential rain and winds. Although there were a lot of problems like the airports closing, flash floods and rock falls it wasn’t as bad as the weather men had predicted. We were luckier in the south than the North of the island and it did cause a few problems around the complex with electrics and excess water.                                                                                                       This also causes a  lot of work for the cleaning staff and it takes them some time to get back to their normal cleaning rota.  This combined with the fact that the calimas are coming more regularly means we must thank the cleaners for all their hard work.

We all saw the very sad but also quite beautiful scenes around the UK after the Queens sad death and funeral, I think it probably touched everybodys hearts. We now wish King Charles all the very best and I am sure he will do a good job.

The next meeting of the committee will be held on Thursday 3rd November at 10.30 am.

Now the summer holidays are over we start looking forward to the Christmas period and we will be looking out the decorations etc and getting ready to put them up next month, I honestly don’t know where this year has gone it seems to have flown by.

We are expecting a bit more rain in the next week or so and then we will recommence work on some of the walls that need repairing around the complex.

Josè will be painting the trastero doors for the electric cupboards and water rooms. We have had a few comments about the state of some trastero doors, if you own a trastero please make sure they are painted white and in an acceptable condition and some of the white security railings also need painting.

We have  put signs on some carparking spaces asking for all furniture and rubbish to be removed as they are a fire risk and it is not permitted to use your parking space as a general store. Please make sure you are parked behind your white line and not over it. Some people have parked a motorbike behind their car which in some cases means they protrude over the white line, which in turn causes hazards for other garage users.

That’s all for now  please take care Paul

AUGUST 2022

Last Updated on Sunday, 18 September 2022 04:57 Written by Paul Tassell Sunday, 18 September 2022 04:57

August was a much busier month on The Heights. The weather was fantastic and visitors are  back to near normal numbers, it is great to see.  Again many owners appeared who hadn’t been to Tenerife for well over 2 years, it was good to see you all.                           Having said that people must still abide by the covid rules still in place in the Canaries.    We still have to wear masks on public transport and if you visit any medical centres including farmacies you must wear one. This is to protect the workers as well as you the tourist so please respect these regulations when on the island.

Yet again we had to talk to many owners using the pool and taking large inflatables to the pool with them, many of the people we spoke to need telling year after year that we are not allowed inflatables in the pool area because we are a residential complex and we do not have a lifeguard, therefore it is against Spanish law, there are very high fines for this infringement of the law.

It was good to see the pool bar busy again and Scott is doing a lot of food again which is proving very popular.

Through August Jose and Matilda took their annual holidays and we used contract cleaners and pool technicians. This worked well and now they are back to work Jose will carry on with painting and general repairs around the complex. The pool man also cleaned the rubbish area everyday and washed down the outside pavements, however this job was made difficult by the amount of builders rubble and large furniture that was put in the  area and also left outside the rubbish area doors. We did email every owner earlier in the year to explain that the council do not collect this type of rubbish on a regular basis any more and we have asked that if you are having a revamp on your apartment please ask your contractor to dispose of the rubbish for you, also if you have new furniture delivered please ask the company to take the old furniture.  We have had to pay a local van man to dispose of the rubbish and this is proving very expensive to the community.

I have been asked when we have committee meetings, usually we meet on the first Thursday of every month at 10.30 in the office by the post boxes, however due to holidays etc the meeting in October will be the 2nd Thursday.   I am on the complex most days and I often speak to owners and sort out any problems that they may have.

It has quietened down a bit now as many owners of all nationalities have returned to their countries as the children start to return to school.

Like the rest of the world we have been stunned by her majesty’s sudden death, and have like many others watched lots of the extensive coverage on T.V. The British Consulate in Santa Cruz did have a book of condolence for people to sign but that has now closed, but it is still  possible to sign on line.
