DECEMBER 2021

December was a mixed month with both the weather and with covid regulations .

The month was warm and we did see a number of owners for the first time since the pandemic began.   Many were very complimentary about the complex which was very nice to hear as it has been a long hard slog to keep the place hygienically clean and looking good throughout the pandemic and so I wish to thank Jose and the cleaning staff for their commitment to the complex throughout these hard times.

COVID 19                                                                                                                                                  We started December in tier 1, this is the lowest level but still we had restrictions in the pool area and mandatory wearing of masks, half way through the month the numbers started rising and we went into tier 2, this brought about more restrictions for bars and restaurants etc.  One  week later we were  into tier 3 and the government were meeting on 24 December to decide levels for all of the islands. It was decided to leave the islands in their respective levels but they reiterated the fact that the wearing of masks was mandatory by LAW in all public places including the community areas of ALL buildings.                           On 24th December I put up even more signs around the complex in three different languages and with pictures so nobody could misunderstand them. It was to inform and remind people that masks must be worn.    The whole exercise was a complete waste of my time as on 26 December (and numerous times since) I was on the solarium in the morning and people were just not taking any notice of the signs,  the few that were wearing masks said to me that they were annoyed that so many people were flouting the restrictions and totally disregarding the safety of  other people on the complex,  I couldn’t agree more and find it very selfish.

At the end of the month we had covid cases confirmed on the complex and it was necessary under covid regulations to have the whole complex completely spray sanitised which resulted in the pool area being closed for a day.

After Christmas our numbers kept rising and we were put into tier 4, this restricts our pool area to 33%  capacity meaning we can only have 6 people in our large pool at any time.

I am looking forward to the time when we do get back to some normality with this virus but I firmly believe if EVERYBODY stuck to the rules and wore their masks and used the sanitisers etc supplied by all commercial premises we would soon see our numbers falling and the very necessary restrictions could start to be relaxed.

I wish you all a happy new year.
