FEBRUARY 2022

This year is moving on fast it is hard to believe we are into March already.

February had a mixture of weathers ,quite warm during the days but we had some winds and some calimas kept returning and now into March it still isn’t settled.

We have been discussing holding an AGM this year and we will be allowed to hold a meeting in May however at the moment we are not sure of the rules that may be in place at that time.

Please make sure your community fees are up to date by the end of this month as it is the end of our financial year and any debtors on 1st April will be listed in our accounts.

I would like to thank the vast majority of you who even through the hard times we have been through have managed to keep payments up to date, as you know they need to be paid to enable us to keep the complex in good repair.  l will know more about the meeting by the next blog,  I will make sure it is published earlier next month.

We continued to see more owners during the month making their first visit since the pandemic hit in 2020, it is lovely to see you and I hope you can get  back to visiting and enjoying your apartments more regularly.

We are still in tier 3 in Tenerife but hospital numbers and infections are going down and we hope to go to tier 2 very soon .

When we went into lockdown the pool was completely closed.  The pool restrictions have been very tight through the pandemic and are now eased quite considerably, we have for some time put out approx half of our sun beds and asked that people using them cleaned with the disinfectant spray provided. Some have been fine with this but we still have some who will not play ball with the rules. We will shortly be making more beds available as the rules are eased.

Although the rules are starting to be more relaxed in Tenerife please keep safe, masks are still mandatory in shops and bars etc and outside if you can’t distance so keep one with you at all times when you are  out and about,

We look forward to seeing you around the complex soon.

Paul

JANUARY 2022

Last Updated on Tuesday, 8 February 2022 11:00 Written by Paul Tassell Tuesday, 8 February 2022 11:00

Tenerife was put into tier 4 after a large rise in numbers of covid infections on all the Canary islands.          We have had a few cases on the complex thankfully not serious cases and we have followed strict covid rules and had the complex sanitised when we were informed and the cases confirmed.      Many people have voiced their dislike of the rules and regulations that are in force in the Canaries, we have tried to adhere as much as possible but certain owners and holiday makers were not prepared to conform “because we don’t have to do that in our country” this has been very frustrating for all that have been following the rules and also for those of  us who have been trying to get people to abide by them.

We have had people saying we need to put up more signs about wearing masks, as on the mainland of  Spain it is still mandatory by law.  We have 60 plus signs around the complex in 3 different languages and with pictures so nobody could not understand what they mean, still a majority don’t wear masks it is very frustrating. Then I get complaints there are too many signs around the Heights, I know that but what should we do !!!

The weather was nice at the beginning of the month but calima winds and rain towards the end, I must admit when you live here it is good to see some rain but we got a few years worth in a few days. There was a lot of damage in Palmar where a garage under a complex got flooded above the roofs of the cars, many cars were destroyed.

Covid regulations permitting we hope to have an AGM in May. This totally depends on numbers staying low and Tenerife getting back to tier 1.  We will know more by the end of March, if rules do not permit it may have to be a postal/email AGM but hopefully not.         Please don’t forget to make sure your community fees are up to date in March as this is our financial year end and debtors will be published in our accounts to enable us to start court proceedings at the AGM. Also you should be aware that interest is charged on all outstanding fees.

Dogs are still causing problems defecating and weeing on the complex,  this should not be happening as the rules of the complex say dogs must be on a lead at all times when in any public areas so you would think that the person holding the lead would notice when there dog has done something and clear it up !!

We are starting a program for replacing all the emergency hose reels and cases on the complex starting in March with A block, some on the complex have already been replaced so will remain.

It has been nice to see many owners here after a long absence due to Covid, it does seem to be getting back to normal but we must  still be careful to get us out of tier 4.

Take care

PAUL

DECEMBER 2021

Last Updated on Tuesday, 11 January 2022 12:01 Written by Paul Tassell Tuesday, 11 January 2022 12:01

December was a mixed month with both the weather and with covid regulations .

The month was warm and we did see a number of owners for the first time since the pandemic began.   Many were very complimentary about the complex which was very nice to hear as it has been a long hard slog to keep the place hygienically clean and looking good throughout the pandemic and so I wish to thank Jose and the cleaning staff for their commitment to the complex throughout these hard times.

COVID 19                                                                                                                                                  We started December in tier 1, this is the lowest level but still we had restrictions in the pool area and mandatory wearing of masks, half way through the month the numbers started rising and we went into tier 2, this brought about more restrictions for bars and restaurants etc.  One  week later we were  into tier 3 and the government were meeting on 24 December to decide levels for all of the islands. It was decided to leave the islands in their respective levels but they reiterated the fact that the wearing of masks was mandatory by LAW in all public places including the community areas of ALL buildings.                           On 24th December I put up even more signs around the complex in three different languages and with pictures so nobody could misunderstand them. It was to inform and remind people that masks must be worn.    The whole exercise was a complete waste of my time as on 26 December (and numerous times since) I was on the solarium in the morning and people were just not taking any notice of the signs,  the few that were wearing masks said to me that they were annoyed that so many people were flouting the restrictions and totally disregarding the safety of  other people on the complex,  I couldn’t agree more and find it very selfish.

At the end of the month we had covid cases confirmed on the complex and it was necessary under covid regulations to have the whole complex completely spray sanitised which resulted in the pool area being closed for a day.

After Christmas our numbers kept rising and we were put into tier 4, this restricts our pool area to 33%  capacity meaning we can only have 6 people in our large pool at any time.

I am looking forward to the time when we do get back to some normality with this virus but I firmly believe if EVERYBODY stuck to the rules and wore their masks and used the sanitisers etc supplied by all commercial premises we would soon see our numbers falling and the very necessary restrictions could start to be relaxed.

I wish you all a happy new year.
