Presidents comments.

Paul sends his apologies, due to a recent family loss, Paul is unable to write this months community update. Our thoughts are with Lorraine, Paul, and family, at this very sad time.

Complex news.
Covid 19 update,
All owners will have received a mail from Universal Properties confirming two cases of Covid 19 on the complex. All necessary precutions were taken as soon as we were notified. Notices were posted around the complex for the benefit of non owners…etc. The complex was completely disinfected by an outside contractor Guzman.
It is a legal requirement to wear a face mask at all times as soon as you leave your apartment, while on the complex and in all public areas. unfortunately there have been reports of a few people who are refusing to comply with this government directive.
Dogs,
Continue to be a problem on the Heights, we had two properties on “B” Block that were causing particular issues, with continuous barking dogs. I am glad to say the apartments have now changed hands and the new owners/tenants are Dog Free, which has reduced the problem. However the issues still exist on all other blocks, and is an ongoing battle.
As always if you rent your apartment out long term please add a ” no pets clause” in you rental contract, this wil make it far easier to deal with in the future.
Common areas,
There have been complaints about children using the common areas and walk ways as play areas, Football pitches…etc . These areas are not to be used for this purpose, as per the many signs around the complex stating this fact.
Brexit, UK residents,
Since the 1/1/21, the 90 day rule applied, this means anyone not registered as a Spanish Resident before that date can only remain here for max 90 days in any 180 day period. Since March 31st this has had a major impact on local bars and restaurants due to the reduced numbers of tourists in the local areas and across the Islands.
2021 AGM,

Due to the Covid rules currently in place, there will be no AGM again this year, Etelina ( Universal Properties) will send out the usual Financial Report for 2020/2021 for the complex to all owners via e-mail.
Security,
Our Security man is on the complex from 11pm every night till 7am in the morning, he is on hand to deal with any issues on the complex during these hours, outside noise problems, dogs barking, loud televisions, suspicious people on the complex …etc. He’s here to keep us and the complex safe, so if you have a problem please call the night time number 671 14 66 16

FEBRUARY 2021

Last Updated on Sunday, 7 March 2021 03:00 Written by Paul Tassell Sunday, 7 March 2021 03:00

February was a very quiet month as is the norm now, we are still not seeing any owners here as the borders are still closed ,the islands are only accessible to residents and priority business people. It is looking likely to stay this way till June /July time.

The coronavirus figures are still on a downward trend but have leveled out over the past month so we are not out of the woods yet, the government are considering tightening our restrictions over the Easter period with a 10pm curfew back in place as opposed to the 11pm we have now, The hope is that after Easter we will be low enough to go into level 1 in Tenerife and heading towards Summer possibly welcoming some tourists back to the Islands, this obviously depends on corona virus figures around the world.

The weather has been changeable with a little more rain and some overcast days but still quite warm, some days 23 to 25 degrees.

As I said in last months blog the AGM planned for May will not go ahead as we are still restricted to small numbers in meetings, A new date will be announced as soon as we are allowed to hold meetings  again .

I do hope that things carry on improving wherever you are and you keep safe, stick to the rules and get your virus jab and we look forward to seeing you all again later in the year.

JANUARY 2021

Last Updated on Thursday, 11 February 2021 05:49 Written by Paul Tassell Thursday, 11 February 2021 05:49

Happy new year to you all .

The year started in Tenerife with nice weather then we had a few weeks of torrential rain, wind and storms.

Tenerife had been put into extra measures before Christmas as our corona virus numbers were rising steadily making us the worst Island in the Canaries.                                                We had a maximum of 4 people allowed to meet outside at a cafe or restaurant and in houses. Curfew over the whole Island from 10pm till 6 am,  and obviously closing our borders to all but essential travel.                                                                                                 These measures reversed the trend and they were eased slightly 2 weeks ago to 6 meeting at bars and restaurants also allowing inside use and our curfew is now 11pm                             Our figures are now stabilised again and we are hoping that next week the restrictions will be eased again. The islands feel a lot safer again although we still have very few tourists and our borders are still closed.

The complex has been very quiet and apart from a few dog incidents and the covidiots who don’t think the regulations apply to them, it has been peaceful and  we applaud the owners and tenants who are following the rules to get rid of this terrible virus to enable us all to get back to as near normal as we can later this year.

The pool regulations are still in place and are very  strict,  we are liable to a 15,000 euro fine for allowing the regulations to be violated, so please read carefully the signage around the pool.

The AGM planed for May this year will not now take place as current regulations severely restrict the number of people allowed to gather for a meeting, we will monitor the situation and set a date later in the year if it is at all possible

Regretfully we learnt of the passing of Richard Legg who was an owner for many years and also the first President of The Heights Community. He had the task of setting up the community and putting the many procedures in place to run the complex. We owe Richard a big thank you for making the Heights the place it is today. Our thoughts go out to Jenny and their family at this very sad time.

We look forward to seeing a lot more owners later this year as things improve around the world and the travel restrictions are removed.

Again our thanks go out to all key workers around the world who are putting themselves at risk to keep us safe we know that a lot of our owners are key workers.

Keep safe  and stick to the rules and we will come through this.

Paul
