OCTOBER 2020

October was going along fine until the UK and a few other countries changed travel rules again because of the rise in corona virus figures all over Europe. The numbers in Tenerife have been rising in the last month as well but not as much as elsewhere. We are on a red traffic light which comes with restrictions on bars and group numbers etc. The pool rules are still very tight and we still get people arriving at the complex and blaming me because there are no sunbeds and that they must put their apartment number on the appointment sheet before they enter the pool area. This is current law and should be adhered to by all owners as the community could be faced with a fine of up to 15,000 euros for non compliance. The pool area is still very quiet.
The weather was good throughout the month and it was good to see a few owners who managed to get here for the first time since March.
Scott has kept the pool bar open since we came out of lockdown and it is good to see it being used obviously busy sometimes and quiet at others ,
We are looking forward to Christmas but I feel it is going to be a lot different to previous years. I think most people will be happy to see the end of 2020 and hopefully 2021 will be a much better year for all and we hope to see all the owners who have not been able to visit this year.

SEPTEMBER 2020
Last Updated on Wednesday, 7 October 2020 11:09 Written by Paul Tassell Wednesday, 7 October 2020 11:09
September has just flown by, the weather was great and very warm.
The situation in Tenerife hasn’t changed from last month. We are still wearing our masks, washing our hands regularly and social distancing.
The swimming pool is being used but is very quiet. We are still not putting out sun beds as the rules are still very tight on pool areas.
After a flurry of tourists from many countries in July/August things seemed to be getting back to some sort of normal but then numerous countries imposed quarantine on travelers returning from Spain and included the Canaries, although our numbers for corona virus were still quite low. In September the numbers rose slightly here and on the other islands but the government were quick to act and now our numbers are below 50 per 100,000 . We hope this will continue to reduce.
The island seems very strange without the tourists and the businesses are being hit very hard, I think unless things change and numbers come down around the world the winter tourism will be devastated as well.
Jose and Matilda are back from their holidays to La Gomera and returned to work this week. Jose will now get on with some outstanding maintenance work on the complex.
A lot of owners have decided not to travel this year and we know it could be 2021 before we see a lot of you again but rest assured we are still doing our best to keep the maintenance etc up to standard.
Please keep safe and hopefully see you all soon

August was as usual very hot and we did have some calimas that made it even hotter.
The complex was incredibly quiet for this time of year obviously down to Covid, and the quarantine rules some governments have imposed on tourists returning to their home countries as most of them link the Canaries with Spain.
Tourism on the Island is almost non existent, some of the big hotels that did open in July are closed again at least until October. There are also many bars and restaurants still closed. Hopefully all of the islands will have the Covid figures back under control again in time for the winter season. If this can be achieved it will go a long way to the island’s economy, and may save a lot of struggling business’s
We were not able to reintroduce sun beds at the Heights as the government legislation on pool areas on residential complexes is so tight. An attendant would be required at the pool area all the time just to police the correct use of sunbeds. The cost of this would not be viable with so few people using the pool area. We will keep this under review .
Most people are now sticking to the rules at the pool ie: recording their apartment number in the time slots and then keeping to that time, it is not ideal but we must abide by the rules as the fines to the community for not doing so are massive, thankyou for your help.
I hope that you are all keeping well and managing to avoid Covid, it has changed our lives and our World and at the moment there seems to be no end to it. However we must keep our fingers crossed for an effective vaccine soon, then maybe we can get back to some sort of normality.
We hope to see you all soon and please keep safe.
